Basic Platinum Investing & Casting Tutoring (2 hour)

(This is for a single event not related to 3D printing or 3D resins, further work can be negotiated)

Everybody has experience but learning never stops. I have set up and taught platinum and palladium casting in facilities for many years from small retail shops to very large high end production facilities. Most people think it is very difficult, expensive, and hard to learn process. If you are trying to learn by trial and error, it certainly can be. I don't just teach how to cast these materials, I teach why things happen the way they do so you will understand the chemistry and material properties of what you are working with. When something goes right or wrong, you will know where to look to improve your process and quality.

Platinum casting has a lot of variables that must be controlled. The biggest variable are the humans performing the tasks. This requires that I figure out the source of your technical difficulty and then help you with corrective actions to resolve the current defects. It always involves accurate defect identification which is not always so easy.

This level of help is remote and will require you to either make macro-closeup photos of the specific defects or send in samples. I may need combinations of pictures of individual defects, trees, or examples of the casting or waxes with the feed sprue attached, or for you to send your CAD files for analysis. This is a jewelry manufacturing related Choice only. If metallurgic analysis is required, those costs will be additional. They are not included in this money and we will try to avoid them if possible.

Metal contamination issues such as cracking from overheating may require the use of a Scanning Electron Microscope that I do not have in my lab. If so, those fees will be separate.
