BENEFITS OF ASIGA 3D PRINTERS AND PROTO PRODUCTS FOR JEWELRY

The Pico 2 is perfect for a range of jewelry applications, including design verification, direct investment casting and direct rubber mold making in either RTV or low temperature vulcanizing rubber molds. The Pico series of machines can easily print 10 standard shanks with settings at a very high resolution of 25um in approximately 4 hours or the more common 50um in about 2 hours. Make full use of your build envelope with our robust automated part placement feature, which nests parts based on their contour geometry, allowing optimal placement which maximizes your resources.

Direct Casting

Recently there were some issues with the SuperCast v1 and v2. As a response and as a result, Proto Products developed a killer direct casting resin called ProtoCast. I’m not sure we are willing to stop production on that material even though Asiga has just come out with it’s newest direct casting resin “SuperCast v3”. We are testing it now and in the meantime, ProtoCast is what we are offering. As soon as we know the test results, we will let you know.

We also have a new material right on the horizon from Asiga called SuperWax that is designed to be directly castable in phosphate acid bonded Pt investment. While the point of this new material was to obtain the ultimate goal of direct casting in platinum, it’s wax like properties make it ideal for direct casting in any metal. It is mostly wax so it has a very similar melting temperature and behavior as normal injection wax. I have a feeling that when this comes out, what will be the point of any SuperCast version…

Direct Molding Now we recommend the Pico-2 or the Pro50.

In order to purchase Pro75 for the jewelry industry you will be required to sign an agreement that you are fully aware of the difference between 50 and 75 microns in the X&Y axis, have been supplied samples of each resolution, understand the difference, and acknowledge that you are making this educated choice on you own.

Affordable price

There are multiple economic and business advantages to working with Proto Products and implementing the Asiga line of 3D printers:

An entry-level price for a sophisticated 3D printer: Asiga’s low cost allows you to use a more cellular approach to rapid prototyping. Each CAD modeler can have his or her own 3D printer to grow and test parts right on their desk, eliminating the need for an additional central staffer whose sole responsibility is running a rapid prototyping machine.

Another benefit to this manufacturing approach is that in the event of one 3D printer experiencing a mechanical issue, you have backups that are still up and running.

No annual service agreement Proto Products

Proto Products offers free telephone and e-mail support for 30 days from install of your 3D printing system. The average user needs about an hour of support in this initial time period. As 3D printer users, manufacturing experts, and consultants, Jeff Hoover and Tyler Teague can answer all your questions about working with the system. Their knowledge of manufacturing runs the gamut: from CAD to rapid prototyping to model making to mold making to casting to finishing. They have been troubleshooting, fixing, standardizing, and setting up manufacturing facilities for decades. But most important, they use the Asiga 3D printers on a daily basis and have been using them for several years. If there is a problem, they will find a solution.

Customized services that fit your needs

Proto Products’ roster of clients includes laboratories, such as 3M and Pacific National Laboratories, research facilities, and educational facilities. Their clients choose them both for their vast experience and the fact that they can offer a user-friendly 3D printer with a customized software solution to suit your needs.
